I’m Baaaack!
Hi everyone! It’s been almost nine months since my last post, which seems eerily prophetic at the moment. Now the U.S. is in a new paradigm where even federal government workers are no longer safe. So what have I been up to? Well here’s the highlights:
- Sold an investment property to pay for…
- STARTED A BRICK AND MORTAR BUSINESS
- Almost went part-time at my W-2, but decided to not leave anything on the table and stay full-time
- and yeah, STARTED A BUSINESS
As above suggests, starting a new brick-and-mortar business has been the highlight of the last year or so. I will bring you up to speed and then stay tuned for ongoing updates of this journey!
It’s always been a dream of my husband and mine to open a next-level gym that really moves the needle with people’s health. No redlining for S & G’s or other dumb moves to stroke your ego, but real change that gives you more thriving years to your life. After listening to all the business influencers, I decided it was finally time to put up or shut up. We spent almost all of 2024 and lots of money getting it open, expecting to be welcomed in our bedroom community with open arms….
We are now just over four months in still working toward breakeven as we fight the battle of every new business–obscurity. I didn’t think we were delusional in our expectations, but it’s been a much harder road than expected. When starting from scratch, there is SO much to learn, no guarantees, and a lot of anxiety. So we’ve been riding the curve below and are trying to claw our way out of the proverbial Valley of Despair. We see the light, but it’s still pretty far off in the distance.

I definitely need to get smarter about marketing strategies so people know the business exists, whether it’s for them, and how to get started. We are trying not to get stuck in the cat-and-mouse game of not wanting to spend money when we aren’t making money, so that’s why we are doing our homework on the best ROI for our time. I’ll be sure to share what works for us and how I’m (attempting) to juggle all this with a full-time W-2 job, kids, and rentals!
But equity is THE way to wealth. Build something for yourself and your family. Your job won’t love you back. Be bold my friends.
